The discussion about preventing the recurrence of genital warts

Genital warts results from infection with HPV (human papilloma virus).

People may come down with genital warts easily when the body’s natural immune ability reduces or when there’s debility feel. For example, after allograft renal transplantation, the risk of getting genital warts may increases. 27% of the female kidney transplant patients show positive HPV16 or HPV18 test. People who are HIV infections may suffer from genital warts or HPV-related tumor much easier than normal people.

HPV can be detected in secretions of patients suffering from urethritis or cervicitis.

Many reasons can cause the recurrence of genital warts; one of the reasons is its own subclinical infection, which should be attached importance to. Warts cannot be seen with the naked eye, but these people with HPV, whose symptoms are invisible, can transmute to others through sexual intercourse. This type of genital warts can be detected in by using 5% acetic acid test, which is called the acetowhitening phenomenon: using 5% acetic acid put a wet compress, if acetowhitening of the epithelium after 3-4 minutes, and the full extent and delineation of the skin lesion are better appreciated, this type of genital warts can be detected in. It is called acetic acid test positive too. The principle is the coagulation of protein; the keratin produced by cells infected HPV is different from the one produced by normal epithelial cells, only the HPV-infected cells can be bleached by acetic acid. Subclinical genital warts have pathological changes.

There are more early HPV infections, known as HPV latent infection, in addition to the subclinical HPV-infection. In order to reduce the recurrence of genital warts, it is required to note the following points:

  1. The recurrence of genital warts may be due to other STD (sexually transmitted diseases) from which patients are suffering, and thus, in the treatment of genital warts, a thorough examination about STD should be undergone, if there’re other sexually transmitted diseases, it must be comprehensive inspected and treated.
  2. The recurrence of genital warts may also because of the subclinical HPV-infection, so 5% acetic acid can be applied to check for definitive treatment in treating.

Latent HPV-infection can also lead to the recurrence of genital warts. Latent HPV-infection can cause non-lesional skin to generate new clinical and subclinical lesions. After using liquid nitrogen to freeze warts or CO2 laser to remove local warts, cells infected HPV around the cankerous skin may enable the original lesions to occur new lesions.
